Awoke to a rainy and overcast 12 degrees celsius. Eventually warmed up to 20
Breakfast! Marie must have had 50 different kinds of homemade jams. French Toast and bacon. My favourite jam was a rhubarb-raspberry. Yummy !
Drove to The Matthew Legacy
Did the tour and got to go on the boat.
Went to The Ryan Premises. A bunch of buildings describing the evolution of the fishery industry in Newfoundland. We learned how to catch fish, stage, flake, and sell.
Stopped for lunch at Skipper's Restaurant
Good soup. Sharon had an excellent dessert (Death by chocolate)
Continued The Ryan Premises and the sun came out around 3:00 pm
Went to see the puffins in Elliston (just past Sandy Cove Beach) Root Cellar Capital of the World
Pretty windy. Pretty crowded. Lots of whales doing all sorts of tricks.
Went back to the Dungeons. Saw the New Liskeard nurse from our Twillingate B&B
Saw a bunch of nannygoats going for a stroll.
Went to the lighthouse to see more whales.
Went back to see the puffins. (and have a nap at the lookout)
Less wind. Less people. Puffins still not getting too close. Lots of whale action.
Drove by a car at Sandy Cove Beach. They followed us a bit and then they started to frantically wave at us. I pulled over thinking something was dangling from our back doors but lo and behold, isn't it Haliburton Rick and Janet (again !). Lots of laughter. They recommended Nanny's Root Cellar for dinner. Good dinner (Pan fried Cod) but we went back to Skipper's for dessert ! Saw the sunset in between dinner and dessert. Saw New Liskeard Nurse again at an obscure sunset view location. Too funny.
